What is Basel Tattoo?

Basel Tattoo is a big, happy show that happens every year in Basel, a city in Switzerland. It is called a military tattoo, which means it has fun performances by bands from many countries, exciting display teams, and popular musicians. People come from all over to watch and have a great time.

Where Does It Happen?

The shows take place in a special old building called the Basel Kaserne. Now it is known as the Basel Tattoo Arena. Every July, there are also big parades that many people enjoy. These parades are one of the largest events in the area, and lots of visitors come to see them.

A Little History

Basel Tattoo started in 2006 by a group called the Top Secret Drum Corps. It has become one of the biggest shows of its kind. The event is now supported by the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS), making it Switzerland’s official military tattoo. Over the years, thousands of people have watched the shows and parades, and many more watch on television on SRF 1. Performers come from many countries, including groups like the Blue Devils International Corps.
