Cadmus

Cadmus was a famous hero from ancient Greek mythology. He is best known for founding the beautiful city of Thebes in Boeotia.

Cadmus came from a royal family in Phoenicia. He was the son of King Agenor and Queen Telephassa of Tyre. His sister, Europa, was taken away by a god, so Cadmus went on a journey to find her. Instead, he ended up creating Thebes and naming its main part Cadmeia after himself.

People remember Cadmus because he is said to have brought the first Phoenician alphabet to the Greeks. This helped them write and share stories. The city of Thebes was very important in many Greek tales, and Cadmus played a big role in its early days.

Today, Cadmus is still remembered in stories, books, and even the name of a chemical element called cadmium. His adventures and the city he built continue to fascinate people around the world.
