Cafu: The Happy Runner

Marcos Evangelista de Morais, called Cafu, was a joyful Brazilian football player. He was born on June 7, 1970, and loved running fast on the field. Cafu played as a right-back, which means he defended and helped score goals.

Cafu grew up in São Paulo, a big city in Brazil. As a child, he joined a football school when he was only seven. He played for many teams, including Nacional-SP, Portuguesa, and Itaquaquecetuba. His nickname "Cafu" came from another famous player named Cafuringa.

Cafu became very famous for his speed and energy. He played for great clubs like São Paulo, Roma in Italy, and AC Milan. People called him “The Express Train” because he ran so fast. He helped these teams win important prizes, like league titles and European championships.

Cafu also played for the Brazil national team. He was the player who appeared most often for Brazil, with 142 games! He helped Brazil win two FIFA World Cups in 1994 and 2002. In 2002, he lifted the World Cup trophy as the team captain. He also helped Brazil win the Copa América twice and the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Cafu was known for his happy spirit and strong work ethic. He inspired many young players and was loved by fans around the world. He married Regina Feliciano, and they had three children. Sadly, one of their sons, Danilo, passed away in 2019. Cafu is remembered as one of the best and most cheerful football players ever.
