The Central Coast is a beautiful part of California. It stretches along the ocean between Point Mugu and Monterey Bay. You can find it northwest of Los Angeles and south of the San Francisco Bay Area.

This area has six counties: Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz. One special part of the Central Coast is the rugged coastline called Big Sur. It is a favorite spot for people to visit and enjoy nature.

The Central Coast is known for its farming and tourism. Important crops grown there include wine grapes, lettuce, strawberries, and artichokes. The Salinas Valley is one of the most fertile farming areas in the United States. Popular places to visit include Cannery Row in Monterey, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the beaches of Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Hearst Castle in San Simeon.

People have lived on the Central Coast for a very long time. Native American communities like the Chumash, Ohlone, Esselen, and Salinan used the ocean and rivers for food and tools. Today, some of these traditions are still kept alive.

The biggest city on the Central Coast is Oxnard. The area has many places to explore, from beautiful beaches to farms growing tasty food. It is a wonderful place to discover!
