Chimpanzee
Chimpanzees are smart and friendly animals that live in tropical Africa. They are part of the great ape family, which also includes gorillas and orangutans. Chimpanzees look a lot like humans but have black fur and no clothes!
These animals live in big groups called troops. A troop can have up to 150 chimpanzees, but they usually travel in smaller groups during the day. They build new nests in trees every night to sleep in.
Chimpanzees love to play and use tools to help them get food. They can bend sticks and use leaves to reach yummy treats like honey, termites, and ants. They are very clever and can even recognize themselves in a mirror!
People around the world know about chimpanzees because they appear in many stories and shows. Famous scientists like Jane Goodall have studied them for many years at places like Gombe Stream National Park. Her work shows how smart and friendly chimpanzees can be.
Sadly, chimpanzees are endangered because they lose their homes in the forests. Many live in national parks to stay safe. We all need to help protect these wonderful animals so they can live happily in their natural homes.
