Who Was Jane Goodall?

Jane Goodall is a kind and clever scientist who loved animals, especially chimpanzees. She was born in London, England, in 1934. As a little girl, she had a toy chimpanzee named Jubilee instead of a teddy bear. This helped her fall in love with these amazing creatures.

Her Work With Chimpanzees

When Jane grew up, she went to Tanzania in Africa. There, she started to watch and learn about chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park. She discovered that chimpanzees are very smart and can even make tools, just like people! She learned that they can also make friends and teach their young ones.

Helping Animals and People

Jane started the Jane Goodall Institute to help protect chimpanzees and their homes. She also made a program called Roots & Shoots to teach children how to care for animals and the Earth. Many people admire Jane for her wonderful work, and she has received special awards, like the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Fun Facts

Jane Goodall even had a special Barbie doll made in her honor! She also had songs and shows made about her amazing adventures with chimpanzees. Jane showed us all how important it is to love and protect our animal friends.
