A Town Built by Trains

Delano started in 1869 when the railroad came to this part of California. It was named after Columbus Delano, who helped lead the country at that time. The railroad made it easy for people and goods to travel, and the town grew quickly.

Farming and Fresh Food

One of the biggest jobs in Delano is farming, especially growing yummy table grapes. The warm weather is perfect for crops. You can often see fields full of green and purple grapes around the city.
