Kern County is in the middle of California. It is part of the Central Valley, a big flat area. To the west, you can find the Coast Ranges, and to the east, there is the big Mojave Desert. Some neat towns are in Kern County, like Ridgecrest, Delano, and Frazier Park.

Kern County is known for its farms and oil fields. People grow lots of yummy foods here, like carrots, almonds, and pistachios. There is also a lot of oil, which helps power many things. The county is also home to important places for airplanes and space, like Edwards Air Force Base and the Mojave Air and Space Port.

Kern County has many fun activities for families! You can visit beautiful lakes like Lake Isabella and Lake Ming for horseback riding or water skiing. In winter, you can go snow skiing at places like Shirley Meadows. There are also many places to hike, camp, and fish.

Kern County has many places to live and visit. The biggest city is Bakersfield, but there are also smaller towns like Delano, Ridgecrest, and Wasco. Each town has its own special charm and things to see.
