The East Coast Trail is a wonderful walking path in Newfoundland and Labrador. It is very long—over 336 kilometres!—and has many parts that connect 30 different places. People love this trail because it shows beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and many interesting spots.
The trail starts at Topsail Beach and goes all the way to Cappahayden. Along the way, you can see old places like Signal Hill, St. John's and Cape Spear. You might even spot icebergs, birds, and whales! There are also eight old lighthouses to see.
The East Coast Trail was started in 1994 by people who love hiking. It grew bigger each year until it became the trail we know today. Now, it is cared for by the East Coast Trail Association. Walkers can stay in small camps or in nearby towns.
Walking the East Coast Trail lets you see many animals. You might spot moose, foxes, or even whales! The trail also has lots of tasty berries like blueberries and raspberries growing along the path. It is a special place for nature lovers and adventurers everywhere.
