East Kalimantan

East Kalimantan is a beautiful part of Indonesia. It is on the eastern side of the island called Borneo, also known as Kalimantan. Many people live here, about 4.3 million, and the biggest city is Samarinda.

East Kalimantan is very big, about as large as many other parts of Indonesia put together. It touches the sea and shares borders with other parts of Indonesia, like West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan. In the past, it also touched parts of Malaysia, but now there is a new place called North Kalimantan.

People have lived in East Kalimantan for a very long time. Long ago, there were forests, and inside a cave called Lubang Jeriji Saléh, people found very old drawings, some of the oldest in the whole world!

The land here has many rivers, hills, and forests. It is also where people are building a new important city for Indonesia called Nusantara.

East Kalimantan is special because of its nature and history. It is a place where old stories and new dreams come together.
