Eddie Mabo

Eddie Mabo was a special person from Australia. He was born on an island called Mer and grew up learning about his people's traditions. Eddie loved to paint, dance, and sing. He had a big family, with many children and grandchildren.

Eddie worked hard to help his people. He wanted them to have the right to live on their own land. Eddie talked to important people and shared his ideas. His work helped change laws in Australia so that Indigenous people could have their land back.

Even though Eddie passed away in 1992, people still remember him today. Many places and events are named after him to honor his brave work. Eddie's story shows how one person can make a big difference for others.
