English Grammar

English grammar is like a special set of rules that help us speak and write the English language clearly. These rules show us how to put words together to make sentences and stories that everyone can understand.

Learning grammar can be fun! It helps us enjoy books, tell stories, and even play with words in poems and songs. Good grammar makes reading and writing easier and more enjoyable.

English grammar is used in many places, like schools and news reports. It helps people all over the world talk and write in Standard English. Even though English can sound different in different places, the basic rules stay the same.

Modern English has changed over time. It uses the order of words, special little words called prepositions, and possessives like โ€œ-โ€™sโ€ to show meaning. Only personal pronouns still show some of the older ways of speaking.

Grammar helps us understand how words work together. For example, words can be nouns, verbs, or adjectives, and they can change forms to show different meanings. Phrases, which are groups of words, can act like single words in a sentence.
