The flag of Dominica, an island nation in the Caribbean known as the 'Nature Island' for its lush rainforests.

The Flag of Dominica

The flag of Dominica is a special symbol for the country of Dominica. It was made in 1978 by a person named Alwin Bully. This flag is very unique because it has the color purple, which is rare on flags around the world.

The flag shows a green background that stands for the lush plants of the island. In the middle, there is a red circle with a purple parrot called the sisserou. Around the parrot are ten small green stars that represent the ten parishes of Dominica. The flag also has a cross with different colors that stand for important ideas like nature, people, and the land.

In 2016, schools in Dominica had a special week to help everyone learn about the country’s symbols, including the flag. The flag reminds people of the beauty and culture of Dominica.
