Formula

Formulas are special ways to share important ideas in science using symbols. They help us understand numbers, shapes, and tiny building blocks of matter.
In mathematics, formulas show relationships between numbers. For example, we can use a formula to find the volume of a sphere if we know its size, called the radius.
In chemistry, formulas tell us what a substance is made of. The chemical formula for isobutane is (CH3)3CH, showing which atoms are joined together.
Formulas are also used in computing. In spreadsheet programs, formulas help the computer do calculations. For example, =A1+A2 adds the numbers in cells A1 and A2 and shows the answer in another cell.
Formulas make it easier to understand and work with many ideas in science and math. They are like magic shortcuts that help us solve problems and see patterns.
