The Free World

The term Free World was used during important times in history, like the Second World War and the Cold War. It talked about countries that worked together to stay strong and free.

During the Second World War, the Free World meant the Allies and other countries fighting against unfair rulers. Later, in the Cold War, it meant all liberal democracies working together instead of communist states.

People often talked about the leader of the Free World. This usually meant the president of the United States because the United States was a very important country that helped keep democracy safe.

Sometimes, other places like Brussels in Belgium were called important to the Free World because many European Union and NATO leaders worked there. And in Germany, Angela Merkel was remembered as a strong and brave leader during difficult times.
