Gianni Rivera

Gianni Rivera was a famous Italian footballer who played for AC Milan and the Italy national team. He was born on August 18, 1943, in Alessandria, a city in Piedmont.

Rivera started playing football with a local team called ASD Don Bosco. He then joined Alessandria, his hometown club, in 1959. In 1960, he moved to AC Milan, where he had a long and successful career.

At AC Milan, Rivera helped the team win many important trophies. He won three Serie A titles and two European Cups. He was also the team's captain for twelve seasons.

Rivera played for the Italy national team 60 times from 1962 to 1974. He played in four World Cups. He is famous for helping Italy reach the final of the 1970 World Cup. Rivera also helped Italy win the European Football Championship in 1968.

After retiring from football in 1979, Rivera went into politics. He became a member of the Italian Parliament and later served in important government roles. He was also chosen to help train football coaches in Florence.

Rivera was known for his clever play and great skills. He could control the game with his passes and was respected for his leadership on the team. He is remembered as one of Italy’s greatest players.
