GitHub is a special website where people share and work on computer programs. It helps people keep their code safe, work together, and share their projects with others.

Where is GitHub?

GitHub started in San Francisco and is now part of the big company Microsoft. It was created in 2007 by Tom Preston-Werner, Chris Wanstrath, P. J. Hyett, and Scott Chacon.

Fun Facts about GitHub

GitHub has a fun symbol called Octocat, an octopus-like character. It also has a service called Gist for sharing small pieces of code. In 2019, GitHub made mobile apps for phones and tablets.
