What is HALO?
HALO, short for Habitation and Logistics Outpost, is a special space module meant to help astronauts live and work near the Moon. It gives them a cozy place to stay and store supplies when they are visiting the Moon. HALO is being built by Northrop Grumman, a company that makes amazing spacecraft and space technology.
Where Will HALO Go?
HALO was planned to travel to space on a Falcon Heavy rocket, together with another module called the PPE. The launch was hoped to happen around the year 2027 or maybe a little later. HALO is an important part of plans to help people explore the Moon and do fun science in space.
Why Do We Need HALO?
HALO will be a small but very helpful home for astronauts. It will keep them safe and comfortable and give them a place to get ready for trips to the Moon. HALO will have special systems to control air and temperature, making sure everything stays just right for the crew. It will also help connect to other spacecraft and carry important science tools to learn more about space weather.
