Hairy-nosed Otter

The hairy-nosed otter is a special and rare animal that lives in parts of Southeast Asia. It is a type of otter, but it is one of the least known kinds, which makes it very interesting for scientists and animal lovers.

Hairy-nosed otters have short brown fur that is lighter on their belly. They have a special area on their nose covered with short dark hair. Their body is long, and they have webbed paws with strong claws that help them swim.

These otters live near rivers, lakes, and forests. They enjoy areas with tall trees and thick plants that keep them safe. They like to swim and play in the water.

Hairy-nosed otters eat fish, water snakes, mollusks, and small creatures. They can often be found alone or in small groups. These otters make simple chirping sounds to talk to each other.

Because their homes are disappearing and they are rarely seen, hairy-nosed otters are one of the rarest otter species in the world. People are working hard to protect them and their homes so they can stay safe and happy.
