Holikachuk
Adapted from Wikipedia · Explorer experience
The Holikachuk are a special group of people who live in Alaska. They belong to a group called the Athabaskan-speaking people and live near big rivers.
Long ago, the Holikachuk lived near the Innoko River. In 1963, they moved to a place called Grayling on the Yukon River.
The Holikachuk call themselves Doogh Hit’an. Their name, Holikachuk, comes from an old village where they used to live. They speak the Holikachuk language.
The Holikachuk have many neighbors, like the Yup'ik, the Koyukon, the Upper Kuskokwim people, and the Deg Hit'an. Even though not many books talk about them, they have a rich culture and history.
