A honeymoon is a special trip that couples take right after they get married. It is a happy time for them to be together and make lovely memories before they start their new life as a married couple.

Many couples choose beautiful or faraway places for their honeymoon. Some like to go to beaches, while others pick cities or mountains. The word "honeymoon" means the sweet and happy first month of marriage, just like the changing moon.

Long ago, in the 1800s, couples in Britain started the idea of a trip after a wedding. This tradition spread across Europe. Today, honeymoons are popular around the world, though not every couple chooses to take one.

Honeymoons help couples enjoy time together and relax. Some people even take a trip alone, called a "solomoon," if they cannot agree on a place to go together.
