The Temple of Horus at Edfu is an ancient Egyptian temple dedicated to the god Horus. It is a well-preserved example of historical architecture.

Horus

Horus was a very important god in Ancient Egyptian life. People loved him and thought he watched over them. He was the god of the sky, the sun, and the moon. Many believed he could protect kings and help people stay safe.

Horus was often shown as a bird called a falcon. Sometimes, he looked like a man with a falcon’s head. This made him easy to picture flying high in the sky. People thought he held the sun and moon in his eyes when he flew.

The rulers of Egypt, called pharaohs, were very special to Horus. They were thought to be like his sons. People believed Horus helped guide and protect the pharaohs as they led the land.

Horus had a loving family. His mother was the kind goddess Isis, and his father was Osiris, another important god. Horus was also part of many friendly stories that people told and celebrated.

Today, Horus is still remembered in books, movies, and games. He remains a beloved figure from ancient times, showing how people long ago saw the sky and the stars.
