What is IBM?
IBM is a big technology company. People also call it "Big Blue" because of its blue logo. It started in 1911 as a smaller company that made tools for counting and recording things. Over time, it grew into one of the biggest technology companies in the world.
IBM is based in Armonk, New York, but it has offices in many countries. The company works on many kinds of technology, like computers, software, and new ideas such as quantum computing.
Why Do We Know About IBM?
IBM helped change how we use computers. In 1981, it made the first personal computer that many people could buy and use at home or work. This computer looked like most computers we see today. Before that, computers were very big and hard to use.
IBM also created other important things, like the automated teller machine (ATM) that lets us take money from banks, and the floppy disk that was used to save computer files before USB drives.
