Jena is a lovely city in Germany. It is the second biggest city in Thuringia. About 110,000 people live there. Jena is a place full of learning and discovery.

The city is home to the University of Jena. This university was started in 1558 and has many students. There is also the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena, where people learn special skills.

Jena is known for making very careful and exact tools. Companies like Carl Zeiss, Schott, and Jenoptik help Jena be famous for this. These tools include special glasses and machines that help doctors and scientists.

Jena is set beside the Saale river, in a place with hills. The area around Jena has many pretty wild orchids. These flowers bloom in the spring and make the countryside beautiful.

Jena has a long history. It was first written about in the year 1182. Over the years, many smart people and writers have lived there. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller were good friends and met in Jena. The city has many old buildings and places to visit, like museums and parks.

Jena is a nice place to live and visit. It mixes old history with new technology and learning. The city invites everyone to explore its streets, rivers, and ideas.
