When Josephus was a young man, he traveled to Rome to help some Jewish priests. He was successful with the help of a kind Roman woman. Later, he became a leader in a place called Galilee.

Josephus wrote many important books. Two of his biggest books are called The Jewish War and Antiquities of the Jews. These books tell stories about Jewish history and life a long time ago. They help us learn about people like Herod the Great, John the Baptist, and Jesus of Nazareth.
