The Kingdom of Afghanistan
The Kingdom of Afghanistan was a special country in Central Asia. It started in 1926 and lasted until 1973. During this time, kings ruled the country instead of presidents.
The first king was Amanullah Khan. He wanted to make Afghanistan more modern. Later, Mohammad Zahir Shah became king and ruled for many years. He helped Afghanistan join groups like the League of Nations and the United Nations.
Afghanistan was a dry and mountainous land. It shared borders with Iran, the Soviet Union, China, and Pakistan. Many different people lived there, speaking languages like Dari and Pashto.
People in Afghanistan mostly worked in farming and mining. They grew crops and found useful minerals in the ground. The country had many interesting places and a rich history.
