Louis Bamberger

Louis Bamberger was a kind and helpful man who lived a long time ago in America. He was born on May 15, 1855, in Baltimore, Maryland. Louis grew up with six brothers and sisters and learned about business from a very young age.

Louis helped start a big shopping place called Bamberger's in Newark, New Jersey. This store became very popular and helped many families by giving them jobs and selling things they needed. Louis also loved to help people. With his sister, Caroline Bamberger Fuld, he created a special place for learning called the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. This place let very smart people study big questions about math and science.
