Who Was Marco Polo?

Marco Polo was a curious traveler from long ago. He was born around 1254 in Venice, a beautiful city in Italy. His father and uncle were merchants who loved to explore faraway places. When Marco grew up, he joined them on an amazing adventure to Asia.

An Amazing Trip to Asia

In 1271, Marco and his family began a long journey along the Silk Road. They traveled through many exciting lands until they reached China. There, they met a powerful leader named Kublai Khan. Marco helped Kublai Khan by visiting different parts of his big empire.

Stories That Inspired Many

After many years, Marco and his family returned to Venice. Marco wrote a book about his travels called The Travels of Marco Polo. This book told Europeans about wonderful places and new things in Asia, like shiny porcelain and special paper money.
