Welcome to Minneapolis!

Minneapolis is a big, busy city in the United States. It is in a place called Minnesota, near a big river named the Upper Mississippi River. Minneapolis is one half of a special pair of cities called the Twin Cities. The other city is Saint Paul, which is the state capital.

Nature and Parks

Minneapolis is known as the "City of Lakes" because it has many lakes, rivers, and parks. People love to visit its parks, especially Minnehaha Park, which has a beautiful waterfall. The city has a big park system called the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway. It has paths for walking, biking, and even skating in the winter!

Fun Things to Do

Minneapolis has many places to explore. You can visit art museums like the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Walker Art Center. The city also has theaters, such as the Guthrie Theater, and music venues. Famous musicians, including Prince, came from here.

Sports and Teams

Minneapolis is home to several sports teams. The Minnesota Vikings play football, and the Minnesota Twins play baseball. There are also basketball teams, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx. People love watching these teams play, especially at big places like U.S. Bank Stadium.

Learning and Growing

Minneapolis has many schools, including the big University of Minnesota. Children go to schools where they can learn and grow. The city also has special programs to help everyone learn, no matter where they come from.

Sister Cities

Minneapolis has friends all around the world. These are called sister cities. Some of them are Kuopio in Finland, Harbin in China, and Winnipeg in Canada. These cities work together and share ideas.
