National Paralympic Committee
A National Paralympic Committee (NPC) is a special group in each country. It helps athletes who face physical challenges take part in the Paralympic Games. These groups are recognized by the International Paralympic Committee, the main organization for the Paralympic Movement worldwide.
NPCs work to find and train talented athletes. They teach them skills and support them as they prepare for big competitions. Their goal is to make sure everyone, no matter how their body works, has the chance to compete and show their abilities.
The Paralympic Games are big international sports events for athletes with disabilities. These athletes may have physical, vision, or intellectual impairments. There are both Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, held right after the Olympic Games in the same city.
As of July 2025, there are 185 National Paralympic Committees that are full members of the International Paralympic Committee. Only these committees in good standing can send athletes to the Paralympic Games.
NPCs help build strong teams by organizing events and providing resources. They promote the spirit of fairness, courage, and friendship in sports. They play a key role in making the Paralympic Games possible and inspiring many people around the world.
