Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was a kind and brave leader from South Africa. He grew up in a special family in a small village called Mvezo. His birth name, Rolihlahla, means "troublemaker" in Xhosa, but his teacher gave him the name Nelson.

Mandela studied to become a lawyer in Johannesburg. He learned about fairness and wanted to help everyone be treated the same. He joined a group called the African National Congress to work for change in his country.

People remember Mandela for his work to bring peace and fairness to South Africa. He became the country’s first Black president in 1994. He worked hard to help all people get along and live better lives.

Even when things were very hard, Mandela never stopped believing in kindness and unity. He is loved all around the world for his good heart and strong spirit. Many call him Madiba, a name from his family.

Mandela received many awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize, for his work to make the world a better place. He will always be remembered as a hero who fought for what is right.
