Welcome to Nuevo León!
Nuevo León is a beautiful state in northeastern Mexico. It shares borders with four other Mexican states: Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Zacatecas, and San Luis Potosi. It also touches the U.S. state of Texas.
The Heart of the State
The biggest city in Nuevo León is Monterrey. It is the capital and home to almost half of the state's people. Monterrey is a bustling city with lots of jobs and places to visit. It is part of a big area called the Monterrey metropolitan area, where most people in Nuevo León live.
A Land of Change
Long ago, before Europeans came, Nuevo León was home to many moving groups of people called chichimecas. In 1580, a Spanish explorer named Luis Carvajal y de la Cueva named the land the New Kingdom of León because it reminded him of a place with hills. Later, it became a state in 1824 after Mexico won its freedom.

People enjoy sports too, especially baseball and football. Teams like the Sultanes de Monterrey and C.F. Monterrey are very popular.
