Welcome to Pacifica

Pacifica is a cozy city in San Mateo County, California. It sits right by the Pacific Ocean, between the big city of San Francisco and the small town of Half Moon Bay. The name Pacifica means “Peaceful” in Spanish.

A Peaceful Place by the Ocean

Many families live in Pacifica because they love the sandy beaches and nice views. The city is known for being quiet and natural, with lots of green spaces. People enjoy walking along the shore, watching the waves, and feeling the cool ocean breeze.

A Bit of History

Long ago, before many people lived there, two villages of the Ohlone people called Pruristac and Timigtac were in Pacifica. In 1769, an explorer named Gaspar de Portolà saw the San Francisco Bay from Pacifica. This was very important because it was the only big, safe harbor on the coast at the time.

Fun Things to Do

Rockaway Beach is perfect for walking, shopping, and enjoying tasty food. There are also many trails for hiking and mountain biking.
