Parallel Bars

Parallel bars are fun pieces of equipment used in artistic gymnastics. They have two long wooden bars, placed side by side, high above the floor. Gymnasts use them to swing, turn, and flip in amazing ways.

These bars are held up by a strong metal frame. The space between the bars can be changed to fit each gymnast. They are about as long as a big bed and as high as a grown-upโ€™s shoulder.

People also use parallel bars for physical therapy and home exercise. They help build strength and improve coordination. Watching a gymnast move on the parallel bars is exciting and shows great skill and practice!
