How Did It Start?
The pommel horse has a long history. It began with the Romans, who used a wooden horse to help people learn to ride real horses. Later, it became part of the ancient Olympic Games. In the 1800s, a man named Friedrich Ludwig Jahn from Germany helped make the moves we see today.
Why Do People Like It?
Gymnasts love the pommel horse because it helps them build strong arms and good balance. Doing tricks on the pommel horse takes a lot of practice and control. It is one of the more challenging events in gymnastics, but it is also very exciting to watch. Great gymnasts like Max Whitlock have become famous for their amazing skills on this equipment.
