Reading is a big and busy town in Berkshire, England. It is the largest town in all of Berkshire. Many people live here, and it is a fun place to visit.
Reading sits where two rivers meet—the River Thames and the River Kennet. This makes it a special spot for boats and nature walks.
The town is known for shopping. Two big shopping places are the Oracle and the Broad Street Mall. People love to explore these places and find many things to buy.
Every year, Reading hosts a huge music party called the Reading Festival. Music lovers from all over come to enjoy bands and performances. It is one of the biggest music festivals in the United Kingdom.
Reading also has a football (soccer) team called Reading F.C.. Fans cheer for their team at matches, making the stadium full of excitement.
The town has a rich past. Long ago, in the Middle Ages, there was a big monastery called Reading Abbey. Today, you can still see some old walls and gates from that time.
People from Reading are called Redingensian. This name is used by a local rugby team and old students from Reading School.
