Reformed Christianity
Reformed Christianity is a big group of people who follow Jesus. It is part of Protestantism. It began during a time called the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s.
Where It Started
Reformed Christianity started in Switzerland and spread to places like Scotland and the Netherlands. A man named John Calvin from Geneva, Switzerland, helped make these ideas grow. People also call this group Calvinism because of him.
What They Believe
Reformed Christians love the Bible. They believe the Bible is very important. They also believe in the sovereignty of God, which means they think God is in charge of everything. They have simple worship services and meet in churches that look plain and quiet.
Different Kinds
Today, Reformed Christianity has many kinds. You can find it in Continental Reformed, Presbyterian, and Congregational churches. Some Anglican and Baptist churches also share these ideas. Each kind has its own way of doing things, but they all share the same beliefs.
Why It Matters
These ideas helped shape many parts of the world. They encouraged people to work hard and start their own businesses. They also helped create ideas about democracy and separation of powers. Many important schools and hospitals were started by people who followed these beliefs.
