Reid Wiseman

Reid Wiseman is an American astronaut and naval aviator. He was born on November 11, 1975, in Baltimore, Maryland. Growing up in the Cockeysville neighborhood, he loved golf and playing drums in school.

After finishing school, Wiseman joined the U.S. Navy. He learned to fly airplanes and became a pilot. In 2009, he was chosen to become a NASA astronaut. Many people applied, but he was one of only nine chosen!

In 2014, Wiseman visited the International Space Station for several months. He helped the crew and did important science work. Later, he was chosen to lead the Artemis II mission in 2026. This mission flew around the Moon, and Wiseman was the first person to lead a lunar mission since 1972. At age 50, he was also the oldest person to travel beyond low Earth orbit.

During Artemis II, Wiseman and his crew traveled farther from Earth than any humans before. He took a famous picture called Hello, World and filmed beautiful views of our planet from behind the Moon.
