The Riau Archipelago is a lovely group of islands in Indonesia. It sits just south of Singapore and to the east of the big island called Sumatra. These islands are part of a special area named the Riau Islands Province.

These islands are famous for their beautiful beaches and clear blue water. People love to visit and enjoy the calm sea and green forests. The biggest town is called Tanjung Pinang and sits on the island of Bintan.

Many different people live on these islands now. Long ago, the area was part of big empires like Srivijaya and later the Malacca Sultanate. Today, the Riau Archipelago is a busy place with boats and ferries helping people travel to nearby islands like the Lingga Islands.
