San Francisco Symphony

The San Francisco Symphony is a famous orchestra from San Francisco, California. It started in 1911 and has been making beautiful music for over a hundred years!

The orchestra plays at a special place called Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall in the Hayes Valley neighborhood. This hall makes the music sound amazing.

The San Francisco Symphony has two extra groups too: the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra for younger musicians, and the San Francisco Symphony Chorus for singers.

Michael Tilson Thomas was the main leader, called music director, from 1995 to 2020. Now, Esa-Pekka Salonen takes care of the orchestra.

People love the San Francisco Symphony’s music so much that they have won many prizes, like an Emmy Award and 15 Grammy Awards. These awards show just how special their music is.

The orchestra has traveled to many places, sharing its music with people all over the world. They have performed in famous spots like Carnegie Hall and in countries such as Japan, Europe, and Asia.

Every year, the San Francisco Symphony brings joy to listeners with concerts full of wonderful music.
