The Saskatchewan Legislative Building is a very important and beautiful place in Regina, the capital city of Saskatchewan, Canada. It is where leaders meet to make decisions for everyone who lives in the province.
This building was built a long time ago, between 1908 and 1912. It has a special style called Beaux-Arts and was designed by two brothers named Edward and William Sutherland Maxwell from Montreal. Many people visit just to see how pretty it is and to learn about their local government.
Inside, there is a special room called the legislative chamber. It used to have a red carpet, which was a favorite color of a leader named Walter Scott. Today, the building offers free tours during the week, and visitors can enjoy lovely views of Wascana Lake nearby.
The Saskatchewan Legislative Building is very special to Canadians. In 2005, it was named a National Historic Site of Canada. There are also nice statues and fountains around the building, including one of Queen Elizabeth II with her horse, Burmese, who was raised in Saskatchewan.
