South Holland is a busy and exciting part of the Netherlands. It is full of people, water, and amazing places to see.

Where is South Holland?

South Holland is next to the big North Sea. It touches several places: North Holland is to the north, Utrecht and Gelderland are to the east, and North Brabant and Zeeland are to the south. The main city here is Rotterdam, which has a very busy port. Another important city is The Hague, the capital of the Netherlands.

Fun Facts About South Holland

South Holland has many rivers that flow into the North Sea. This makes it a great place for trade and travel. People have lived here for thousands of years! Long ago, hunters lived in areas like Hardinxveld-Giessendam. Later, farmers built homes near Vlaardingen.

Some famous people were born in South Holland. Christiaan Huygens, a great scientist, and Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, who made the first microscope, both lived here. There are also many beautiful paintings from artists like Rembrandt and Johannes Vermeer.

South Holland is a wonderful place with lots to explore!
