Who Was Strabo?

Strabo was an ancient Greek geographer. He lived a long time ago when the Roman Republic became the Roman Empire. He wrote a famous book called Geographica. In this book, he told stories about many people and places from the world at that time.

Where Did Strabo Live?

Strabo was born in a rich family in Amaseia in Pontus. This place is now part of Turkey. When he was young, he learned from great teachers. Later, he moved to Rome to study more.

What Did Strabo Do?

Strabo traveled to many exciting places like Egypt, Kush, and Tuscany. He wrote about all the lands he visited. His book helps us learn about life a long time ago in places from Britain to North Africa.

People liked his book even many years after he passed away. It was first printed in Venice many centuries later. Strabo’s stories showed how people saw the world back then.
