Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison was a famous inventor from the United States. He loved to create new things and made many useful inventions that changed everyday life.

Edison was born in Milan, Ohio in 1847. He grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. Even though he lost most of his hearing when he was young, he kept inventing amazing things. He started his career as a telegraph operator and later opened his own laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey.

Some of Edison’s most famous inventions are the light bulb, the phonograph, and the motion picture camera. The light bulb could stay lit for a long time, which made homes and streets brighter. The phonograph could record and play back sound, and the motion picture camera helped create the first movies.

Edison worked with many people and used science to test new ideas. He created the first industrial research laboratory where teams could work together. By the time he passed away in 1931, he had over 1,000 patents, making him one of the greatest inventors in history. His inventions helped shape the modern industrialized world.
