What is an Electric Light?

An electric light is a special machine that makes bright light using something called electricity. It is very useful when it is dark and helps us see. Most homes, schools, and offices use electric lights. They come in many shapes and sizes, and you might see them in your house every day!

Electric lights are made from different parts. The most common kind has a glass bulb and a tiny wire inside. When electricity flows through the wire, it gets very hot and glows, making light. Some lights are long tubes, while others are small and round. They can be screwed into a socket or placed in special holders.

Types of Electric Lights

There are many kinds of electric lights. One common type is called an incandescent lamp. It has a thin wire inside that glows when electricity passes through it. Another type is the fluorescent lamp, which is a long tube that makes light using a little bit of gas. Today, many people use LED lamps. These are very good at saving energy and can last a long time. LEDs can light up quickly and don’t get very hot.

Where Do We See Electric Lights?

Electric lights are everywhere! You can find them in your home, such as in kitchens, bedrooms, and living rooms. They are also used in schools, hospitals, and offices. Some lights are small, like those in flashlights, and others are very big, like street lights. They help us do many things, from reading a book to cooking dinner.

Before electric lights, people used candles, oil lamps, and fires to see in the dark. Now, electric lights make our lives much brighter and easier. They help us work, play, and stay safe when the sun goes down.
