The launch of the Gemini-Titan 11 spacecraft, a historic NASA mission that reached for the stars on September 12, 1966.

The Titan II GLV

The Titan II GLV was a special rocket used by NASA to help astronauts travel into space. It flew twelve times between 1964 and 1966. These flights taught scientists a lot about space travel and helped prepare for trips to the Moon.

The rocket had two big parts. The first part used an engine called the LR87, and the second part used an engine called the LR91. Both engines used special fuels to make the rocket very strong.

All of these launches began at a special place called Launch Complex 19 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The first mission, called Gemini 1, took off on April 8, 1964. Some missions had astronauts inside, and others did not.
