Welcome to Valais!
Valais is a beautiful place in Switzerland. It is one of the country's 26 cantons, or regions. The biggest town there is Sion. Valais is in the southwest part of Switzerland, close to France and Italy. It touches the cantons of Vaud, Bern, Uri, and Ticino.
Amazing Mountains and Lakes
Valais is famous for its tall mountains and pretty views. It has parts of the Alpine mountains, like the Pennine Alps and the Bernese Alps. Some of the highest peaks in Switzerland are here, such as Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn. The Rhône River runs through Valais, and Lake Geneva is nearby. The weather can be dry in the middle of Valais because of the mountains.

Many people love to visit Valais for its exciting spots. Popular places include Zermatt, where the famous Matterhorn mountain stands. Other nice towns are Saas Fee, Verbier, and Crans-Montana. These places are great for winter sports like skiing and for summer activities like hiking. The Simplon Railway and the Lötschberg Railway make it easy to travel through these beautiful areas.
