Historic buildings in Warsaw's Old Town Marketplace

Welcome to Warsaw!

Warsaw is the capital city of Poland. It is a big, busy place with lots of people—about 1.8 million live there! The city sits along the River Vistula, which winds through it like a shiny ribbon.

Warsaw is very important. It is where Poland’s leaders work and where many big buildings stand. One of these is the tall Varso Tower, the highest in all of Europe! People can ride the Warsaw Metro to get around, or hop on bright trams and buses.

The city has a long history. It became Poland’s capital in the 16th century. After facing hard times, Warsaw was rebuilt, and today you can see beautiful old parts like the Old Town and the grand Royal Castle.

Warsaw loves learning and sharing ideas. It has famous schools like the University of Warsaw and many libraries full of books. The Copernicus Science Centre lets kids touch and try fun science things!

Music and theatre fill the air in Warsaw. Big stages like the Grand Theatre host shows, and the city hosts special events such as the International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition. With over 30 theatres and many museums—including the Warsaw Uprising Museum and the National Museum—there is always something to see and do.

Warsaw is also a place where sports are loved. The big Kazimierz Górski National Stadium is where football fans cheer loudly. Teams like Legia Warsaw have many supporters, and families enjoy places like Wodny Park Warszawianka for swimming and water slides.

Some famous people were born in Warsaw, like Maria Skłodowska-Curie, who discovered important things about tiny particles, and Iga Świątek, a top tennis player. The city also remembers heroes such as Casimir Pulaski, who helped in faraway lands.

Warsaw makes friends with cities all over the world, like Chicago in the United States and Kyiv in Ukraine. These friendships help everyone learn and grow together.

Warsaw is a place full of life, history, and fun. Whether you love old buildings, new towers, music, sports, or just making new friends, Warsaw has something wonderful for you!
