The Western Bloc

The Western Bloc was a group of friendly countries during a time called the Cold War. This was from 1947 to 1991, when the world was divided into two big groups. The Western Bloc worked closely with the United States.

Most of these countries were in Western Europe and Northern America. They also included nations from Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. These places believed in free markets and democratic governments.

The Western Bloc was different from countries led by the Soviet Union. People sometimes called them the Free World because they supported freedom and democracy. This group helped each other stay strong and safe during the Cold War.

Many of these countries joined a group called NATO, which means the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO was created so that if one country was in trouble, the others would help defend it. This made everyone feel safer.

The Western Bloc included famous places like the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Japan, and Australia. They worked together to keep the world stable and friendly.
