Welcome to Zambia!

Zambia is a beautiful country in Southern Africa. It does not touch the ocean, which we call a landlocked country. Zambia is surrounded by many other countries, like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. The capital city is Lusaka, where many important buildings are located.

Nature and Animals

Zambia has many wonderful places to explore! The land has big flat areas, gentle hills, and river valleys. Two important rivers flow through Zambia: the Zambezi River and the Congo River. These rivers help plants, animals, and people live there. Zambia has a warm climate but stays comfortable because of its higher ground. The country is home to many interesting animals, including special kinds of giraffes and colorful fish.

A Short History

Long ago, early humans lived in what is now Zambia. You can still see old skull remains in Kabwe District. Later, many groups of people, like the Khoisan and Bantu people, settled there. In the late 1800s, Britain took control of the area. Zambia became its own country on October 24, 1964. Kenneth Kaunda was the first president, leading the country into a new future.

Fun and Culture

Zambia has rich traditions and fun activities! People enjoy music, dance, and games together. Traditional music often uses drums, and there are special dances for celebrations. Football (or soccer) is very popular, and Zambian teams have won big awards, like the African Cup of Nations in 2012. The country also has beautiful parks and famous places like Victoria Falls, where people come from all over to see the huge waterfall and enjoy nature.
